Doris Jean Strouse passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 14th 2018 at Thornapple Manor surrounded by her family. Doris was born on November 13th, 1921, to Marion and Myrtle (Stadle) Clem. She was raised in Carlton Center, Michigan, by her father Marion, and step mother Grace (Brant) Clem. She was married to Wayne Truesdell from 1941- 1947. She then married Claud Clemens in 1949, but this ended in divorce. She married Leslie O Strouse in 1964 and he passed away in 1967. Doris was preceeded in death by her parents; sisters Noreen Clem and Ione Piece; and grandson, Jeff Kelly. Doris is survived by her sisters Mary Lydy, and Yvonne (Phil) Bond; sons, Edwin Truesdell, Daniel Clemens, Steven Clemens, Leslie (Sally) Strouse; daughters Patricia Swihart and Anna Preston (Richard) ; grandchildren, Mick, Becky, Shanon, Philip, Rich, Randy, Jason, Mindy, Leslie Jr.; 9 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren, and several step-grandchildren. Memorial services to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, March 24th, at the Grace Brethren Bible Church on Powell Rd, Hastings, MI. The service begins at noon with a luncheon to follow at the church. Pastor Kevin Yoder will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to a charity of your choice.
