Obituary

On June 7, 2026, Doris Molina peacefully passed away at home surrounded by her loved ones. Born November 13, 1958 in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, by parents Manuel Molina and Ramona Correa, she lived a fulfilling life fueled by resilience. A compassionate soul and nurturing spirit, Doris was always quick to open her home to those who needed a safe space or lend a helping hand. She nourished the minds of those around her with her tales of wisdom and nourished their bodies with food cooked from love. Doris began working from a young age, never hesitating to take care of her family, both growing up in Puerto Rico, and tending the familial arch she built here in the states, she was always a serving spirit.

“What a privilege it is to be changed by someone worth missing forever.” Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel Molina and Ramona Correa, and siblings Lidia Molina Correa, Reina Molina Correa, and Carmen Molina Correa. She is survived by siblings Modesta Molina, Nereida Molina, and Manuel Molina. Her legacy continues through her four children, Jose Rios, Ireida Robertson, Anuedy Rios, and Christian Rios, as well as a number of grandchildren and great-great children whom she cherished dearly.

Doris was highly respected and admired by everyone she crossed paths with during her lifetime. She loved cooking, making sure everyone's bellies were full before her own. She loved tending to her garden, taking care of her pet birds, and dancing like nobodies watching. Doris loved music, listening to her favorite songs up until her final days, finding comfort in her favorite melodies. She prioritized keeping her family unit together and they will continue her legacy by continuing to rally beside each other.

Doris fought a long and hard battle with cancer, but even in the darkest of times, her spirit never seemed to dull. Despite any pain or discomfort, Doris was always wearing a warm smile and had a joke up her sleeve to ease the air for those around her. Although her battle eventually came to an end, she lived a beautiful and fulfilling life filled with laughter, love, and perseverance. She made sure to carry her culture throughout the lineage, leaving her loved ones with beloved recipes, tales from her homeland, and a flower in the yard for every tear shed for her loss. She will be remembered for not only the things she did, but for the person she was, a beloved mother, grandmother, coworker, neighbor, sister, and friend. To know Doris, was to love her.

A celebration of life will be held at St. Marks Episcopal Church on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at 1pm with a luncheon to follow. To honor her spirit and keep her charisma alive, we ask that you do not feel the need to dress in black per usual attire. Doris was a very colorful spirit, and loved pops of color in her home and closet, and she would be happy to see us in a room filled with vivid color and happiness opposed to the traditional black attire.
