Donnell Floyd Thompson, age 84, passed away on September 17th, 2019, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, after battling lung cancer. He was born September 1st, 1935 in Stonington, Colorado, the son of John and Mabel (Evans) Thompson. Don Graduated in 1955, from Johnson High School in Johnson City, Kansas. He served in the United States Navy on board the Aircraft Carrier USS Bon Homme Richard. Don worked for many years as a carpet installer until his retirement. His interest included assisting his kids with home improvement projects, woodworking, gardening, golf (including a hole-in-one) and rooting for the Michigan State Spartans. His sense of humor, funny stories and jokes will be missed. He was preceded in death by his wife Judith Schwaiger Thompson. He is survived by his children Martin (Alice), Greg (Vicki), Kristen (Ken), Doug (Sarah), step children Amy (Paul), Kurt (Sheri), Scott (Elaine), Julie, Lori (Mick), twelve grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his Brother John Thompson, Sister Velda Dickson Dotterer and many Nieces and Nephews. The family will receive friends at the Ofield funeral home 4500 Kalamazoo Avenue SE, Kentwood, MI 49508 on Friday, September 20th, 2019 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.
