May 1, 2013 Service: May 4, 2013 Donna Olmstead Pleasants - September 4, 1962 to May 1, 2013 Donna Pleasants passed away peacefully from a courageous and valiant battle with brain cancer on May 1, 2013. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Don Olmstead, and leaves behind her wonderful, loving husband, Paul Pleasants, her mother, Viola Mary Olmstead, her siblings, Vicki Stein, Valerie Savina, Diane (Chris) Marklevitz, Richard (Rhonda) Olmstead, Robert (Michelle) Olmstead, and Jennifer (Eric) Ranieri, as well as her beloved nieces and nephews, Andy, Mike and Jeff Savina, Audrey Stein, Sydney, Matthew, Jadon and Alexis Olmstead, Max and Marcus Olmstead, and Adam Ranieri, and Olo Savina and Lyla Bella Savina, her great grand nephew and niece. Donna was a comet, a brilliant shooting star, leaving us too soon, but she blazed a bright trail across the sky of everyone whom she touched. She was an air traffic controller, quilter, gardener, cook, litigator, a tireless advocate for those who needed help, an extremely generous benefactor to many, and to many to whom we will never know, a fun and funny person, and, most importantly, a wonderful woman who loved her family, friends, pets, and pretty much everyone and every animal who had the pleasure of knowing her. We have all been blessed by her presence, and we are better, brighter people for having Donna in our lives. The family would like to thank Gerri, Lora and especially the staff of Pilgrim Manor, Unit 1, who did an awesome, outstanding job of caring for our wife, daughter and sister during these difficult days. Visitation will be on Friday, May 3 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo SE. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 4 at 11:00am at Kelloggsville Church, 610 52nd Street SE, Kentwood with visitation from 10-11 before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in Donna's name to Pilgrim Manor, 2000 Leonard NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505.
