Donita Louise Keeley, age 80, passed away on Thursday February 4th surrounded by her family.
Donita worked at Otsego Paper Mill and Lawler Ballard Advertising Agency. Donita also owned the Gobles News and enjoyed gathering local stories to share with the community. She was best known as Gram to her 13 grandchildren and their spouses and friends. Her 29 great-grandchildren referred to her as Mee Maw and were always happy to see her and get snuggles.
Donita was raised on a farm East of Gobles and spent her entire life as a Gobles resident. She was an active member of the community and served on many committees, boards, school bonds, etc. She spearheaded the improvements that led to the completion of the Kal Haven Trail. Donita loved to host parties and many good times were had around the pool at the family home. She welcomed everyone and was always willing to pitch in when help was needed.
Donita loved to travel and took many trips with her husband of 63 years, Glen W Keeley Jr, who proceeded her in death in 2013. Their travels took them to Alaska, New York, Florida, New Mexico, Georgia, Hawaii, the Caribbean, Mexico, Canada, and many points along the way. She also loved cultivating her many beautiful flower, herb, and vegetable gardens around her home.
Donita will be remembered as a strong and loving mother, grand mother and great-grand mother. She is survived by her children, Glen and Deb Keeley III, Teresa and Rick King, Michelle Keeley, Brian and Melissa Keeley, Sarah and Elijah Carlson; grandchildren, Danielle and Eleazar Asbeury, Jordan and Shannon Keeley, Josh and Rachel Keeley, Erica Keeley and fiancé Russ Boyer, Ryan and Arica Keeley, Bradlee and Cortnee Nelson, Shannon Nelson and fiancé Lee Khayyam, Nathan Keeley, Trevor Keeley, Joseph and Damenick Woodard, Matt and Madison Woodard, Adam Carlson, Jessica and Mike Ristich; sister, Sally and Jerry Mansfield; brother, Don and Bonnie Messinger; sisters in law, Joanne and Ken Harrington, Roxanne and Gary Healy.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday June 26th, 2021 at 1pm at her son's home; 28031 12th Ave, Gobles MI. Donations in her memory can be made to Wings of Hope Hospice, 530 Linn St, Allegan, MI 49010. Wingsofhopehospice.com
