Donald
Nicholas
January 3, 2025 – January 3, 2025
Sadly, Donald Joseph Nicholas Sr ("Biya") of Otsego, Michigan, passed away on Christmas Day 2024 at age 89.
Born in Detroit to Anna and Shehda Nicholas, Don served our country honorably in the US Army during the Korean War. He worked for Allstate Insurance for 32 years.
Family always came first with Don (including canine members), and he was always present for his kids' sporting events. He loved tennis, boating, golfing, hunting, and fishing. He traveled to 44 countries and went on numerous hunting trips.
He passed on his passion for sports to his three sons. He played on the Army baseball team and enjoyed over 25 years of golf league with his youngest son, Jim, his friends, and his best friend and golf partner, Carl. He also had strong business and financial acumen and was intrigued by the financial markets.
He is preceded in death by Ruth Nicholas, his loving wife of 58 years, and his siblings Edmund, Julie, Genevieve, Edward, Ray, and George.
He is survived by Donald Jr. (Sarah) of Mint Hill, North Carolina and their children, Alyssa (Jeff), Adam (Katie), AJ, Ashton (Garrett), and Laney, Robert (Tekla) of Coral Springs, Florida, and James (Sarah) of Plainwell, Michigan and their children, Hannah, Haleigh, Trey, Addison, and Chloe.
Per Don's wishes, cremation has taken place, and his ashes will be buried in Mountain Home Cemetery in Otsego, next to those of his loving wife, Ruth, later this year.
A celebration of life and visitation will be held at Doster Community Church on Saturday, February 1st from 2pm-5pm. Please join us to celebrate a life well lived.
