September 19, 2014 Service: September 22, 2014 Donald Gerard Hoogerhyde born June 23, 1933, died unexpectedly on September 19, 2014. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Barb Hoogerhyde and his five children, Mike (Cheryl) Hoogerhyde, Kathy (Denny) Tarachanowicz, Mark Hoogerhyde, Don (Laurie) Hoogerhyde and Barb (Rick) Griffin-Hayes. He is survived by 13 grandchildren and Buddy who loved him very much and 8 great grandchildren who were blessed to have known him. He will be joining his entire immediate family in heaven, his mother and father John and Alpha Hoogerhyde, his brother, Dick (Barb) Hoogerhyde and his sister, Arlene (Harold) Arnold, who preceded him in death. Don served his Country in the United States Army and provided for his family with an upholstery career at Steelcase for nearly 30 years. Don loved the outdoors -- he loved fishing and hunting and his family. He will be dearly missed! Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, September 22, 2014 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church. The family will meet with relatives and friends Sunday from 1:00 - 3:00 pm and 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Ave., and one hour prior to the service at church. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Humane Society or Calvin College Speech Clinic.
