Obituary

Donald K. Cecconi (Bud), born November 26, 1924, in Blue Island, Illinois passed away peacefully in his sleep with his wife of 75 years, Muriel beside him.

As the only son of Viola Conyac and Dominic Cecconi, he was exempt from service, yet he joined up to fight in WWII. He volunteered for the most dangerous spot on his B17, the ball turret. He would say, it was because he was
the smallest...we all know it was because he was the bravest. On his 100th birthday, he was honored by the VA as a centurion veteran.

It has been said of Don "if there was a ball, he'd find something to hit it with or throw it at". An avid golfer, he achieved the elusive hole in one at his beloved Indian Lakes Golf course in Manistique MI, where he and his wife shared their second home. The Red Cabin on Indian Lake was also a second home for all of his family. He was an early adopter of handball, reveling in beating those half his age. A golfer, an amazing bowler...yes, he bowled the perfect 300, a fierce card player, and a sudoku master.

One cannot speak of Bud without mentioning that he was a lifelong Cubs fan who suffered and rejoiced along with the rest of us as they won or lost.

An architect by trade, educated at the Illinois Institute of Technology, class of 1949, he spent his career with Community Builders, eventually taking over the company. He remodeled many of the homes in the Chicagoland area
and lucky for us he designed homes and remodels for his children.

He loved his family and enjoyed being surrounded by all of us. We lost a good man, a fun husband, a wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Muriel Ann Whitney, M 1950, 5 children Donald (Gail O'Neal), Bob (Mary Reid), Sue Kern (Warren), Richard (Susan King), Ron (Kathy Sabella) As well as 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Services will be held on Oct. 25, 2025 from 3 to 5 PM Beechwood Grill 380 Douglas Ave. Holland MI
