Dewayne Church, a cherished husband, father, and brother, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on June 24, 1953, Dewayne's life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his family, his love for working with his hands, and his unforgettable sense of humor that brought joy to all who knew him.
Dewayne is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Linda Church, and his devoted son, Dewayne Church Jr. He was predeceased by his son, Randy Church, whose memory he held close to his heart. Dewayne's legacy continues through his brothers, Kenneth (Angie) Church and Andy (Julie) Church; his sisters, Donna (Greg) Ward, Cathy Church, Marie Church, and his brother Tom (Tammy) Church. His life was further enriched by his sister-in-law, Diane (Jerome) Philippus, brother-in-law, William DeGoed, and sister-in-law, Dawn (Dean) Metzger. His joy was multiplied by his adored grandson, Zakeryah Chester, and his great-nephew, Ian Metzger-DenUyl, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will fondly remember their times together.
Dewayne's career as a mechanic was not just a job but a calling. He took pride in his ability to understand the intricate dance of gears and pistons, and his expertise was sought after by many.
Beyond his professional life, Dewayne was a man who loved working with his hands. His workshop was a place of solace and creativity, where he could transform the ordinary into the extraordinary. Dewayne's interests extended to the simple pleasures of life, such as enjoying a good joke, spending time with friends and family, and making everyone around him feel at ease with his friendly demeanor.
Described by those who knew him as handy, funny, and friendly, Dewayne's presence was a comfort and a light to his community. His quick wit could defuse any situation, and his laughter was contagious. Dewayne was the kind of person who made friends wherever he went, and his absence will be deeply felt by all.
Dewayne's life was a testament to the power of kindness, skill, and humor. As we say goodbye to this remarkable man, we celebrate the indelible mark he left on our lives.
