Derrick Andrew White August 18, 1988-June 18, 2019. Derrick loved steak, fishing, Natty Daddies, fixing things, climbing trees, being outdoors, and most of all his family. Derrick was wonderful with children, especially his niece and nephews, who loved him so very much. Derrick had a beautiful smile and a kind, gentle nature. He was always ready to help someone in need. Derrick never failed to say 'I love you' or to say something kind in moments of difficulty. It wasn't unusual for Derrick to call and leave a message of kind words 'just because'. Derrick always gave the greatest hugs, lifting you up off your feet. It is difficult to put into words the beauty and grace Derrick brought into this world. Derrick's life wasn't easy, losing his parents at a young age, then struggling with addiction and depression. Derrick's nature was too sensitive for the circumstances of his life. On June 12th, 2019 Derrick gave up on this life and brought immense sadness into the lives of those of us who loved him deeply. Derrick lives now, still, inside our love and affection, and, God-willing, inside a peace and security that so much eluded him in this life. Derrick is survived by his sisters, Linsey White and Stacie VanderStel, brother Shawn White, his loving girlfriend Kayla Cummins, and his "Mom" Karen Koch, nieces Bailey and Evanjolie and his nephews Deklyn and Isaiah, grandmother Barbara Evans, aunt; Carolyn Litaker, uncles; Michael Litaker, Carl Litaker, cousins; Terica Mercado, Lawrence Mercado, Candice Withrow, Devin Irman, Jamie Litaker, Justin Cross, Natalie Litaker, Ashley Baker, Alisha Harrington, and Jessie Litaker. There will be a memorial to celebrate Derrick's life on Monday July 8th from 5pm to 7pm at the American Legion Post 160 in Bangor, Michigan. 19 N Center St, Bangor, Michigan 49013.
