Derrick L. Anderson Jr. was born on January 25, 2011 at Helen Devos Children Hospital to the parents of Nikkia Harris and Derrick Anderson. He peacefully passed away on Sunday, February 09, 2020 at home in the early AM. Derrick was a beautiful soul who left a legacy of hope, love and happiness. He inspired anyone around him to be greater than oneself. Derrick was our inspiration. He taught us how to love unconditionally. Although Derrick endured many health complications, he would still smile in the midst of darkness. At school, Derrick Jr. was loved by many teachers, nurses, doctors and therapists. He will be forever loved and missed. Derrick Jr. is survived by: his parents, Nikkia (John) Harris, Derrick (Chaka) Anderson his siblings Malakai Savick and Ivry Anderson; grandparents, Jozette Marble, Tyrone (Lisa) Harris, Gary Davis, Vernita Grayson and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. We want to give special thanks to Lakeshore Home Health Care for providing nursing services, to Lincoln Developmental School for providing education and to Ofield Funeral Home for outstanding service. The funeral service for Derrick will be celebrated by Pastor Willie F. Tyler at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 14, 2020, at Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Avenue SE, Kentwood, MI 49508. There will be one-hour visitation prior to the service.
