IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Derek Grant
Church
March 4, 1971 – November 23, 2024
Derek Grant Church, Beloved husband, father, grandfather, family member and friend, died suddenly at home on November 23rd, 2024, of a massive heart attack at the age of 53. Derek was born in Grand Haven, MI on March 4th, 1971.
Derek is survived by his wife, Shay Wilson, his three sons, Jonah, Isaac, and Max, his stepdaughters, Kameron (Tim Bowman) Wilson, Destiny (Kodee) Brimmer, and Bobbi Joe Bronald. His mother, Doris Hardenburgh, siblings David Church Jr. (Mary), Lori Church-Hemminger (Mark), Kristy Austin (Steve) father and mothers-in-law Dan Mahynski, Sandy Mahynski and Kathy Fahlsing. His grandchildren, Luca, Kaden, Kelly, and Nova.
Derek's most avid loves were his family, playing music, concerts, and reading to learn new things. He had an active mind and could talk about many topics. He especially enjoyed time spent with his wife, Shay, and treasured the time he had with her. His boys were always a priority in his life, and he wanted to be there for them, always. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren, who he adored. They, in turn, loved him right back.
Derek had a huge heart, and his generosity will never be forgotten. Derek worked for AT&T as a customer service specialist for 25 years. He was a hard worker and was proud of the job he did, often having to work outside in very inclement weather.
A celebration of Derek's life will be held at 11:00 AM on December 7th, at the Kentwood Community Church, 1200 60th street SE, Kentwood, MI. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM.
