Obituary

Dennis Floyd McCormick - 69 - Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on January 21, 1955, has left his earthly body on October 2, 2024 at 8:36pm to be reunited with his wife, Linda, who left us all on April 7, 2023. We all know that she was waiting for him with her arms open wide.

Dennis suffers no more, and we know he is at peace. He was raised in Burton Heights and had many diverse accomplishments in his life. Dennis was an amazing "high diver" at Garfield Park, a lifeguard at many city pools and lakes, a gifted musician who was fluent in his ability to play numerous instruments, most notably acoustic guitar, bass, and drums. He and "the guys" spent many years jammin' above the old store. Dennis also practiced karate in his early years and loved working out with his free weights. Life was great in the 70's.

He was one of the first sculptors to present at the "Festival" at the Calder in the early 70's. Dennis graduated from Central High School and attended and studied many subjects at GRJC, most notably his love of philosophy.

Dennis was preceded in death by his loving wife, Linda (Molette), of 49 years, his father James D. McCormick, his mother Madonna Koon, his brother Ken McCormick, and all of his grandparents, aunts, and uncles.

He leaves behind his four children, ten grandchildren and two greats: Jessica and Mike Nichols (Brayden, Gabriel); Angela and Jacob Rivera (Jesalyn, Anaya, Josiah, Journey); Benjamin McCormick (Ben Jr., Sierra); Joseph and Lindsey McCormick (Connor, Nolan, Maddie); great grandsons (Santiago, Jovanni); his sister Madonna and Randy Froelich; and his half-brother Larry Wietsma, along with many nieces, nephews, and his lifelong best friend, Mark Barnaby.

Dennis chose to donate his body to the Willed Donor Program at Michigan State University for research. He has been accepted, and the family is proud to be able to honor his wishes.

Heavens gain is our loss. We are happy for him. A celebration of life will happen at a later date.

Arrangements were made by Ofield Funeral Home.
