February 22, 2015 Service: February 27, 2015 Denise A. Harmelink age 63, of Kentwood, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 22 surrounded by her family. She fought a two year battle with multiple myeloma and died from complications of a stem cell transplant. She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years David; loving daughters Julie (Blake) Driver, Melissa (Jeremy) Bultema, Stephanie (Brent) Sandera; seven grandchildren Sabrina, Brayden, Rylan, Thomas, David, Kailey, and Jennifer; mother Gwen Schuiling; brother Philip (Beverly) Schuiling; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her infant son Jeffery and father M. James Schuiling. Denise graduated from Union High School and Hope College with a bachelor's degree in early childhood development. She worked for 40 years as a preschool teacher at KCDC and John Knox preschools. Denise was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother who always put her family first. She was a dear friend to many and touched countless lives. Denise had a kind heart and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She was a longtime member of John Knox Presbyterian Church, 4150 Kalamazoo Ave SE, where a celebration of her life will be held Friday February 27th at 11AM. Reverend Michael Baynai, officiating. Interment Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will meet with friends and family Thursday from 2-4PM & 6-8PM at Ofield Funeral Home.
