Deb Jongsma, a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend and neighbor was relieved of her Earthly suffering and was received by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, July 13, 2024. She faced life's greatest challenges with strength and an independent spirit, twice battling cancer before finally finding peace. Deb was a hard working person who took great pride in her service with children as a special needs transportation aide as well as maintaining a family member's property and animals. Deb loved arts and crafts. She spent much of her free time painting and creating things. She especially enjoyed painting with her grandchildren and spending time outdoors. Deb was a devoted family member and friend who always put others' needs before her own. She is survived by her children, Nichole (Jim) Derks, Christopher (Katie Duck) Jongsma, Jessica (Patric) Alexander; her treasured grandchildren Marijke, Rosalie, Thomas and Sophia; and many cherished family members and friends.

A celebration of Deb's life will be held on August 3, 2024 at Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Avenue SE, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49508. Visitation from 10-11:00 a.m.; service at 11:00 a.m. with light refreshments to follow.

In lieu of flowers, Deb requests that donations be made in her memory to Corewell Health Foundation West Michigan - Pediatric Cancer Research to continue the fight against cancer and to support vulnerable children - two causes that were dear to her.
