It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of our beloved mother.

Deborah Lou Averill (Wierenga), of Ravenna, Michigan, passed away on May 29, 2025, at the age of 67. She was born on July 28, 1957, the eldest child of Betty Wierenga and the late Gerald Wierenga.

Deborah is survived by her husband, Greg Averill; her daughters Tanya Mullay-Smead (Christine), Rosalie Espinoza (Raymond), and Angela Riojas (Zeke); and her grandchildren Justice Mullay, Raymond "Trent" Espinoza, Arianni Riojas, Milania Espinoza, and Lillianni Riojas.

She is also survived by her mother, Betty Wierenga; her siblings Tammy Rollston (Keith), Jeff Wierenga, Rich Wierenga (Carol), and Tracy Rollston (Ken); as well as extended family and friends.

Deborah was known for her unmistakable laugh-a loud, unforgettable chackle that could be heard from a mile away. She had a feisty spirit, a deep love for animals, and creative, crafty streak. Whether it was making something by hand or finding her own way through life, she was nothing if not determined.

She lived in Ravenna for many years and will be remembered and missed by those who knew her.

Cremation for Deborah has taken place. There will be a time of visitation on Saturday, June 7, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Ofield Funeral Home. 4500 Kalamazoo Avenue SE, Kentwood, MI 49508.
