Davida, known affectionately by her given name, was a cherished daughter of the late Nicolas and Soledad Yap. She was the sibling to Francisco, Julio, Amado, and Celestina, all of whom preceded her in death. Her legacy continues through her beloved husband, Andrew, her supportive brothers-in-law Ronald Dagwell and Timothy Dagwell, her loving niece Grace Ponferrada, and her devoted nephews Nelson, Steven, Rommel, and Lito. She also held her late nephew Henry close to her heart.
A dedicated scholar, Davida earned her Bachelor's degree in teaching from The University of San Carlos, which paved the way for a life of service and mentorship. Her professional journey was marked by her unwavering commitment to the betterment of others, working with ministries in California and Hawaii. Her roles with Campus Crusade for Christ and Words of Hope allowed her to touch countless lives through her spiritual guidance and support.
In Grand Rapids, Davida continued her mission of compassion through her work with Bethany Christian Services, where she was deeply involved in adoption services. Her efforts to bring families together and provide children with loving homes were not just a career but a calling that she pursued with her whole heart.
Davida's interests were as diverse as they were profound. Her green thumb brought beauty to life in her garden, a place where she found peace and solace in the company of her plants. Davida's love for people was boundless, and she cherished the diverse tapestries of cultures she encountered throughout her life. Her warm presence and genuine interest in the lives of others allowed her to forge deep connections across the globe, leaving a legacy of international friendship and understanding.
