Obituary

David Wilbur, age 65, of Grand Rapids, Michigan passed away October 26, 2018 surrounded by family and friends. Dave was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Grace Wilbur. Dave graduated from Coopersville High School and University of Michigan School of Pharmacy. He grew up in Lamont, Michigan but spent most of his working years near San Diego, California, where he moved with his wife Suzanne Jambeau in 1979. Dave worked for 35 years as a hospital pharmacist at Grossmont Hospital and other hospitals in La Mesa, California. Dave loved fast cars, motorcycles, baseball and cooking. In his 20's he got a private pilots license and was flying around in the sky. As a pharmacist he was the best. On more than one occasion he was honored for finding medical errors and saving patients' lives. He enjoyed fine dining and exploring wine country in the beauty of California. After he retired he moved back to Michigan to be with his family and friends. He always told people he moved back to Michigan for the climate. His lively spirit, delicious cooking and vast wine knowledge was greatly appreciated. He will be sorely missed. Dave is survived by his siblings, Daniel, Debbie, Dianne, Doug and Denise, their spouses and his nephews, nieces and cousins. His life was made better with the love and care of Linda Bumstead, John Porter, Harry Ruster, and Janette Oudbier. Thanks to Heartland Hospice, especially Nurse Stephanie and Nurse Assistant Steve for their kindness and help during his last days. A memorial service will be held at a later date for friends and family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Heartland Hospice, Mel Trotter Mission or Heifer International.
