David L Shank of Grand Rapids, Michigan, age 84, passed away on Jan 1, 2021. He was born an only child to Leonard and Helen Shank, on Aug 30, 1936, in Greenville, MI.

Among his many interests, David loved woodworking, building boats, tinkering with model airplanes, working on cars, and the art of photography. He used his woodworking passion to build and run boats which he designed and handcrafted himself. He also enjoyed building detailed model airplanes like gliders, radio-controlled and rubber powered planes. His passion for fast cars and engines kept him busy working under the hood throughout his life. He also had a knack for photography of all types, taking great photos and also developing them in his own darkroom.

But his greatest passion in life was for his wife, Kay, to whom he was married for 49 years, raising 4 children with her. David is survived by his 4 children, Victoria Robinson, Todd Shank (Penny), Melissa Cutrara (Jonathan), and Rodney Shank. His grandchildren, Amanda (David), Ashley (Brett), Lexie, Christopher (CJ), Mackenzie, Decker, Megan (Christopher), Sydney, and Zayne (ZJ). As well as his great-grandchildren, Sophya, Beauregard, Nola and Neva. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Kay (Anderson) Shank and his parents Leonard and Helen (Findsen) Shank.

There will be a visitation from 11:00 to 12:00 p.m on Saturday, January 9th, 2020, followed by a celebration of life memorial service from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Avenue SE, Kentwood, Michigan 49508. We welcome all of David's friends and family, but due to Covid restrictions, we ask that you reach out to the family before attending.
