David Gilford Burgess Jr., of Muskegon, Michigan, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026, just days before his 60th birthday. He was born on January 11, 1966, in Muskegon, Michigan, to David Gilford Burgess Sr. and Mary D. Remisovsky.

David was a man whose presence filled a room with laughter. Known as a true joker, he had a quick wit, a playful sense of humor, and a natural ability to make people smile—even in difficult moments.

Above all else, family meant everything to David. He was a devoted father who loved his children deeply and took pride in each of them. He is survived by his children, Rene Soto, Matthew Burgess, and Dave Scholtens, who were the center of his world and his greatest joy.

David is also survived by his sisters, Rachel, Teresa and Nyra.

In his free time, David found peace and freedom on his motorcycle. Riding was more than a hobby—it was his way of clearing his mind, feeling alive, and embracing the open road. Those rides reflected who he was: independent, adventurous, and always moving forward.

David's legacy is one of humor, love, and loyalty. He taught those around him the value of laughter, the importance of family, and the simple joy of being present. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of those who knew him.

Though he may be gone from our sight, his laughter, stories, and love will live on always.
