IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David
Johnson
July 18, 1960 – October 4, 2024
David was called to be with his Lord and Savior October 4th, 2024.
David had a very tragic childhood filled with abuse and neglect. This caused tremendous PTSD. Dave also had bipolar disorder. He tried to drown out the pain by using drugs, which only added to his grief.
On a more positive note, the years he spent in the US Army gave him a deep love for his country. Also, the time he spent in the Salvation Army and Celebrate Recovery helped him to see the need for Christ in his life. We are comforted to know that he is now with the Father - He who will never abandon him.
David is survived by his sister Kelle Prescott (Johnson), cousins Jeane Pye Gard and David Pye; nieces and nephews Becky Heffelbower (Jollands), Brian Jollands, and Troy Prescott, along with several great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Betty Bartels, who provided love, guidance, and support in David's life for many years, and close friends Tim and Kathy Chambers, Scott VerBurg (Scooter), Bill Holloway, Scott Billen, and many others.
David was pre-deceased by his mother and father, Alan and Myrtle Johnson (Pye) and Betty's husband, Larry, the father figure David adored.
A memorial and gathering will be held in the Common Room at Riverbend Apartments, 7663 Riverbend Drive, Jenison, Michigan on Sunday, October 27th, at 2PM.
