Obituary

David L. Brisbin, age 82, of Hudsonville, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, January 11, 2026.


He was born on January 23, 1943, in Grand Rapids to Bishop L. E. & Mildred Brisbin.


David married Shirley Slagle on June 15, 1963, at Apostolic Faith Church.  Together they were happily married for over 62 years.


David graduated from Davenport University & Aquinas College with a business degree and worked faithfully for 41 years at Smith Aerospace.


He was a member of Apostolic Faith Church. Deacon Brisbin was a faithful man of God who served the Lord for many years.  He served as a Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, Treasurer and Deacon of the Apostolic Faith Church.


David enjoyed golf, fishing, and loved traveling with his family to their cottage and out of the country.  There were many family games of Cornhole and David was often victorious and his name proudly displayed on the prized trophy.


Survivors include his wife, Shirley; children, Scott (Aileen) Brisbin & Jennifer (Phillip) Simon; six grandchildren, Tyler (Emily), Cameron (MacKenzie), Zachary and Thalia (fiancé, Justin) Brisbin, and Cole & Avery Simon; great-grandchildren, Samson, Maria and Aiden; siblings, Susan Ypma & Sandra Rickert; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.


He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Melissa Brisbin; brother, Terrance Brisbin.


Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 8:00pm on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Avenue SE, Kentwood.  Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on SATURDAY, January 17, 2026, at Apostolic Faith Church, 1935 44th Street SE, Grand Rapids, with a family visitation one hour prior. Burial will be at Rosedale Memorial Park.
