IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Darryl
Rummins
July 8, 1960 – December 14, 2024
Darryl Robert Rummins of Hastings, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 14, 2024. He was 64 years old.
Born July 8, 1960, Darryl was the youngest child of Gordon and JoAnne (Johnson) Rummins. He graduated from Hastings High School and spent many years working at Northside Pizza before changing careers. He retired from Bradford White in November 2023.
Darryl married Brenda (Dove) in June 1987, blending two families into one. He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda; children Tracy (Ben) Furrow, Tim Huver, and Cara Rummins; his cherished grandchildren Thomas (Natalie), Ben Jr., Joey, Riley Furrow, Jason Huver, and Conor Rummins; niece, Patricia Rummins; lifelong best friend, Jim (Bonnie) Haight. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Gordon Rummins; and mother-in-law, Ruth Miller.
Darryl was a man of few words, but his mischievous grin said it all. He was honest, hardworking, and tough as nails but kind enough to give you the shirt off his back. In his later years, he grew gentler while keeping his sharp wit and humor, a true jokester through and through.
A lover of the outdoors, Darryl enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, vacations to the UP, riding motorcycles and quads. He was a master of darts, chess, and horseshoes. His sweet tooth—especially for chocolate—was legendary. He loved music, particularly rock and blues, and found peace in its rhythm. Most of all, Darryl loved his family and dogs, preferring their company over most.
Darryl was a Simple Man. He will be remembered for his honesty, humor, and ability to bring people together—especially over good food. He will be missed deeply by his family and most who knew him. In his own words: "It is what it is… deal with it!"
Celebration of life for his first heavenly birthday in July 2025.
