Darrell Legay

February 9, 1960 – January 3, 2023
Darrell Legay Ingram, 62, of Grand Rapids, MIchigan was born on February 9th, 1960 to Casey
Lee Ingram and Adine Marie Caldwell. He unexpectedly transitioned from this life on January
3rd, 2023.
Darrell attended Grand Rapids Public Schools and was a graduate of Central High School.
Darrell was extremely gifted in many areas including different sports and stood out in basketball
receiving many awards and accolades, setting many records, some of which are still standing to
this very day!
Not only did Darrell excel in athletics, he shined academically going on to receive his associates
degree from Grand Rapids Community College in occupational therapy. He worked in this field
through Hope Network in a group home for disabled adults and youth. He loved helping others
and took great pride in showing compassion and tenderness. He was also a foster to parent
through D.A Blodgett opening his heart and home to young
men in need imparting wisdom, guidance and love leaving long-lasting impressions their lives.
Later on he worked security detail for Van Andel arena for many years until he had to retired
early due to back injury.
Darrell had a great sense of humor , possessing a unique charisma that will be sorely missed by
all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Douglas Ingram and Daniel
Caldwell, grandson QuentinDuzan, grandmother Othella Jones of Grand Rapids, MI son-in law
Henry Hursey Jr of Lansing Michigan and life long friend Ali Muhammad of Muskegon,
Michigan.
Darrell's legacy will carry on through his children daughter Marica Robinson-Bailey and husband
Bill Bailey, son Ryan O'Neal and fiance Grace Allen of Houston Texas, daughters Alisha
O'Neal-Hursey and fiance Donald Hoag, Melissa Robinson-Duzan and husband Larry Duzan,
Melanie Robinson-Hinkle and husband Aaron Hinkleall of Grand Rapids, MIchigan and
daughter Rory Ingram of Palo, Michigan and special nephew Jatari Ingram and wife Latoya of
Colorado Springs, Colorado, of brother Casey Ingram Jr of Toledo, Ohio and only sister Debra
Ingram of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and 21 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and numerous
family and friends.
A private memorial service will be announced on a later date.
The family would like to thank Olfied Funeral home and those who have sent their prayers and
condolences.
