Obituary

Darcy Ann Brown-Dumont, 82 , of Kentwood, Michigan, passed away into the presence of her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ on 31st, of January, 2026.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Doloras Caldwell, father, Irving Brown, and brother, Michael.

Darcy was a 1961 graduate of Lockport High School, Lockport, New York where she excelled in modern interpretive dance. Leaving Lockport for New York City, she attending dance schools such as Shirley Broughton School of Modern Ballet, The June Taylor School of the Dance, and Robert Jeoffrey’s School of Ballet. She learned method acting with such notable actors, Herbert Berghoff and Alex Kemeni.

She fine-tuned her dancing talent in tap dance and ballet in a variety of theaters and play houses and shows notably Irv Harmon’s variety shows, and at Jackie Gleason’s “Joe the Bartender’s”, Miami, Florida.

Darcy had notable solo parts, and main character fill-in’s while performing summer stock theater musicals; “Milk & Honey”, “Guys and Dolls” and “Cabaret”.

Retiring from show business in 1974, she accepted an invitation by her former physical education high school teacher, Carol Harding, to teach dance (ballet, tap and aerobics) at Michigan State University. She was a dance instructor at Lansing Community College, Arts Workshop, as well as owning her own studio, “The Tap Emporium”. Her “LCC Dancettes” recitals were always well received.

Returning to NYC in 1981, she resided in Staten Island with life-long friend Christine Fechik. They both found Christ as Savior and Lord while visiting “The Walter Hoving Home”. This reset her life to serve Christ.

She was a member of Calvary Assembly of God, and a founding staff member of

Calvary Learning Center, a K-12 Christian school. For 5 years, Darcy taught Primary (1st-3 rd grade), and Intermediate (4th -6th grade) classes. She also choreographed the school’s Arts plays.

Always seeking God’s direction for her life, she accepted a Librarian position, in 1990, at then Faith School of Theology, and now Faith Bible College International. As Librarian and Teacher, Darcy faithfully served the students and staff for 5 years.

There, she met her husband, Carl Dumont. Together, they served the Lord as pastor and pastor’s wife, Sunday School director/teacher at 5 churches from 1992 to 2023 in Maine and Michigan. While serving at a Downeast Maine church, Darcy opened a dance studio, “The Little Christian Dancer” for girls ages 5-13. Every annual dance recital was well received.

She also authored and illustrated a children’s book, “The Cat, the Mouse and the Flying Shoe”.

Returning to Michigan in 2016, Darcy played various roles as a volunteer at Matthew’s House and Legacy Thrift, Grand Rapids. In 2017-18 she was a Senior Neighbor reading volunteer at Stocking Elementary School. She played various volunteer roles as member of New Horizon’s Ministry Center, and was a volunteer at Street Light Ministries serving the homeless.
