Obituary

Darcie Ann Gilbert (Dozeman) passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 29, 2021. She was a medical legend, having kicked metastatic breast cancers ass every day for nearly the last 12 years. Being the third time she was diagnosed with breast cancer, the first time in 1993 and again in 2000, she never slowed down, not even once and insisted on marching to her own timeline.

Born September 19, 1961, Darcie was a devoted and loving mother, sister, friend and her most cherished role of all, Nana. She spent her time never sitting down for too long, instead preferring to spend her time reading multiple books per week, running ridiculous amounts of miles outdoors, eating several lifetimes worth of pickles, wearing fuzzy socks with llamas on them, drinking copious gallons of Baha Blast for the caffeine to keep her going as she volunteered at her church and many other local organizations, baking minty chocolate desserts with her grandkids and using lemon pepper seasoning as her secret ingredient to fix most dinners.

Darcie is remembered with love by many. Her daughter, Stephanie Jolly and her husband Alexander. Her son, Ryan Gilbert and his wife Joanna. Grandchildren, Ayden and Aurora Jolly and William and Benjamin Gilbert. Her favorite sisters and brothers, for whom she was and still is, their rock. Many nieces and nephews. And many loving friends.

In place of a traditional funeral service, a celebration of Darcie's life will take place in the Spring.

In lieu of flowers, Darcie requested individuals donate to their favorite charities or some of hers. Darcie loved many charities including Bibles for Mexico, the Bluebird Cancer Retreats of West Michigan and charities devoted to helping foster children, like Hope Pkgs, which helps to provide first night bags for children who are entering the foster care system.

She is already dearly missed and will always be remembered for the love and grace she showed every day to her family and friends. Service Details.
