Davis
January 3, 1949 – September 4, 2025
Dale William Davis, 76, of Kent City, MI peacefully passed away surrounded by family Thursday September 4th, 2025. He was born January 3rd, 1949, in Grant, MI. Born to Herbert William Davis and Bertha Mae Raison; one of seven children.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years Cheryl Davis (Stream), Daughter Jennifer Davis (James Furgeson) and Daughter and Son-in-law Jeannie and Edward Wright (Davis). Grandchildren Samantha Hart (John Eckert), Tyler and Erika Vincent. And three great-grandchildren, Santiago, Brayan, Emberetta. Sisters Maggie Miller and Alice (Carl) Thies. Siblings-in-law: Art and Sue Procter (Stream), Dale Stream, April Stream, Gary Stream and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Herbert and Bertha, Sisters: Cathy and Bertha. Brothers: Gordon and Herbert and sister-in-law Donnie Davis, Brother-in-law Donald Miller. Mother and Father-in-law: Maryanne and Harold Stream, and Brother-in-Law Duane Stream. Sister-in-Laws: Nora Stream (Coe) and Nancy Stream, and Nephew Artie Proctor; and several aunts, uncles and some cousins.
He got his GED while serving in the Army from 1968 to 1970, where he enjoyed his time in Alaska, and told many stories from this time. He was a member of the 171st support battalion, where he was an Army marksman rifle expert and small arms repair technician. He then served in the Army Reserves from 1970 to 1974.
After getting out of the army he worked on the Stream Dairy farm. Where he met the love of his life Cheryl, they were married April 1971. He later found rewarding and enjoyable work while working in various die-cast factories with liquid zinc and aluminum.
During his years of factory work he always had a passion for farming, he had a hobby farm with horses. Where he taught his daughters the love of horses and helped his girls through 4-H. He mixed his joy of camping and horses together and could often be found during Labor Day weekends at the Sparta Rodeo. He also had draft horses that he took to multiple parades. In the early 2000's he enjoyed barrel racing where he earned numerous buckles and awards, qualifying him for the NBHA world show 9 years in a row.
The love of family and animals were a priority in Dale's life. This was evident with his special talks with his nephew Jason, where he felt most at peace and at home. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
Honoring Dale's wishes to be cremated and forego a funeral, a celebration of life will be held at the Tyrone township office on Saturday, October 18th from 2pm until 6pm.
