Obituary

Connie M. (Mathews) Stevenson of Goetzville, Michigan, formally of Hart, age 75, passed away on June 14, 2022. She was born to Andrew and Ellen (Nye) Mathews on August 13, 1946, in Detroit, MI.
Connie was the youngest of five children. She was raised in Hessel, Michigan and was a 1964 graduate of Cedarville High School.
Connie married John "Andy" Stevenson on July 18, 1964. Together they raised three children in Hart, Michigan. Connie worked multiple jobs but was well known for her crafting ability and floral arrangement skills. She always had a smile on her face and her faith in God never failed. Connie volunteered as a cub scout den mother, 4-H leader, and was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Hart. She enjoyed doing crafts with her children and grandchildren but for the last 15 years she spent most of her free time making bird feeders and crafts with her husband, Andy. Better known as the "Tea Kettle Couple", they would attend art and craft shows throughout Michigan and share their talent with others.
Connie is survived by her beloved husband of fifty-eight years John Andrew Stevenson. Her loving children Dale (Shawn) Stevenson of Hart, Kevin (Stacy) Stevenson of Hart, and Cheryl Stevenson (Eric Ott) of Kalamazoo; her grandchildren Sam Stevenson of Hart, Koty (Megan) Stevenson of Hart, Deanna Stevenson (Eric Carlomusto) of Howell, Kerstin (Tyler) Hitsman of Grand Rapids, Brooke Arcello (Alex Young) of Jenison, and Connor, Tegan, and McKenzie Ott of Kalamazoo; her siblings Bud (Molly) Mathews of Hessel, Nancy Lamoreaux of Hessel, her sister-in-law's Anita Izzard of Cedarville, Charlene Williams of Cedarville, Joyce Lamoreaux of Washington, and Margaret Lamoreaux of Cedarville; brother-in-law's Wayne (Sue) Stevenson of Midland, Danny Izzard of Cedarville; family friend Alice Goll of Nunica, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Connie was proceeded in death by her step-dad Elmer Lamoreaux; two sisters and their husbands Shirley and John Johnides, Margy and Howard Fischer; three step-sisters and their husbands Beatrice and Everett Harrison, Annie and Harry Howard, and Jane and Ivan LaComb; two step-brothers Verne Lamoreaux and Bill Lamoreaux; sister-in-law's Rosemary Stevenson, Sandra Izzard; and brother-in-law's Edwin (Virginia) Stevenson, Conrad Izzard, Robert Williams, Elmer Lamoreaux; and nephew Brian Lamoreaux.
The family would like to thank Centrica Care Navigators of Kalamazoo for their care and compassion during Connie's illness.
A graveside service will be held July 2, 2022, at 11:00 am at Cedar Cemetery on 4 Mile Block Road, South of M-134 in Cedarville. Luncheon will follow at Clark Township Community Center Cedarville.
