Cole Ivan Lanning, 21, of Allendale, Michigan, passed away suddenly on June 3, 2026. His unexpected passing leaves family and friends mourning the loss of a young man who touched so many lives.
Born on May 13, 2005, to Jeremy and Amber Lanning, Cole brought joy, laughter, and kindness into the lives of everyone who knew him. He had a caring heart, a natural ability to connect with others, and a personality that could light up any room. Whether he was making someone laugh, lending a helping hand, or simply spending time with those he loved, Cole had a way of making people feel valued and welcome. His presence was a gift, and the impact he had on family and friends will never be forgotten.
Cole was an auto detailer with Crystal Clean. He was a dedicated and hardworking employee who took pride in his work and cared deeply about the people around him. He built lasting friendships with coworkers and earned the respect of those who had the privilege of working alongside him.
Cole had a love for adventure and enjoyed experiencing life to the fullest. He loved traveling, especially his most recent trip to Las Vegas, and enjoyed hunting and spending time outdoors. More than anything, he treasured time with family and friends. Those closest to him will remember his sense of humor, his ability to make ordinary moments unforgettable, and the countless memories he created with the people he loved.
Cole will be forever missed by his parents, Jeremy and Amber Lanning; his older sister, Kaylee (Theo) Costie; his grandparents, Bridget and Roger Eppard, Larry and Donna Lanning, and James Gilbreath along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends who loved him dearly.
Cole is proceeded in death by his grandmother Colleen (GG) Gilbreath.
Though his time on earth was far too short, Cole's life was filled with love, friendship, laughter, and memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be remembered not only for what he did, but for who he was—a kind, caring, and deeply loved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, friend and coworker.
A memorial service will be held on June 11th 2026 at Ofield Funeral Home, visitation at 1pm and service at 2pm, with a reception to follow at Main Street Pub in Allendale.
