IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Clarence Henry
Scholten Jr.
January 25, 1954 – June 22, 2020
Clarence Henry Scholten Jr escaped his mortal realm on Monday, June 22, 2020 at the age of 66 while surrounded by his children. We think he did it on purpose to avoid having to "make a decision" in the pending presidential election.
He leaves behind his children: daughter Roci Jo (Mike) Tawney and son Shane (Peggy) Scholten, sister Judy (late Jim) Geeting, brother Ronnie Scholten, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents: mother Ann (Jim) Omlar, father Clarence Scholten, and brother Clarence "Butch" Wentzloff.
Clare was world-renowned for his lack of patience, not holding back his opinion and a knack for telling it like he sees it. He always told you the truth even if it wasn't what you wanted to hear. It was the school of hard knocks and yes, we were told many times to "suck it up." With that said he was genuine to a fault, had a heart of gold and was the hardest working man we know. He would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.
He didn't want a funeral. He said a funeral is a waste of harrrrrrrd earned money that his family could use right now. He was a very private person in life, so he didn't want to end that life with people gawking at him while he lay in a coffin. He's being cremated and his ashes are being scattered (somewhere his kids take him).
What can I say about our dad? He loved music. He taught himself to play the guitar and loved to sing. He was in a country band for many years (The County Line Band). He also liked to fish and play golf. He loved his family and loved his grandchildren more.
He was never one for sentiment or religiosity, but you can expect to find a Barky beagle at his feet. Unlike previous times, this is not a ploy to avoid creditors or old girlfriends. He assures us that he is gone. He will be greatly missed.
The family would also like to thank all the staff at Mercy Health Hospital and Harbor Hospice who took great care of him.
We will be having a Celebration of Life on Saturday, July 11, 2020 in Muskegon, MI at Kruse Park (Old Bronson Park) from 12pm - 4pm. Please contact the family if you have any questions.
