Clarence "Sonny" Edward Kedde of Caledonia, Michigan, age 76, went home to
heaven with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday morning, September
30, 2023. Sonny was born to Clarence and Therma (Dewar) Kedde on December
15, 1946, in Grand Rapids, Michigan and was the youngest of three children. He
graduated from Grand Rapids Christian High School in 1965. After high school,
Sonny enlisted in the United States Navy and honorably served our country during
blue water time on the USS Salute, and was stationed in Charleston, South
Carolina. After his service, he attended Central Michigan University in Mount
Pleasant, Michigan and obtained a bachelor's degree in journalism, followed by a
business degree at Davenport University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Sonny held a
seat on the Board of Directors at Arvron, Inc. in Grand Rapids and was employed a
majority of his career in the printing and newspaper business. He held the
position of Distribution Manager at Jenison Printing for Advance Newspapers for
many years before working at Jones Manufacturing. One of his favorite things to
do while on the job was drive straight truck to make deliveries whenever he had
the opportunity. These were his favorite memories to share with others. He most
recently held the position of maintenance and custodian at Green Lake Calvary
Church. Sonny loved to serve the Lord in everything he did. He also loved
spending time with his family and friends and could be found outdoors as often as
possible. He loved music, nature, traveling for work and leisure, riding his bicycle
around Green Lake, playing with and caring for family pets, ice cream, and most
importantly, helping others and sharing the love of Jesus with all he met. In the
last two precious years of his life, he resided at Rest Haven Home in Grand Rapids,
Michigan. Sonny is survived by his loving daughters, Shanda (Chris) Cobb, Candace
Kedde, Kara Kedde, and his grandsons, Markus and Clay. He is also survived by his
sister Carol Pell and sister Donna (Jim) Lawrence, along with his many cousins,
nieces, and nephews. Sonny was preceded in death by his mother and father. The
entire family would like to thank Rest Haven Home and Faith Hospice for their
love and care of Sonny helping him finish well before his journey home to heaven.
There will be a Celebration of Life service at Green Lake Calvary Church at 608
145th Avenue, Caledonia, MI 49316 on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at 11:30 am.
There will be a visitation luncheon immediately following the service at the
church. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to offer expressions of sympathy are
encouraged to make a memorial contribution to Rest Haven Homes, Inc. in
memory of Sonny Kedde, 1424 Union Avenue NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505.
