Chien Tang Ly of Grand Rapids, MI, age 77, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2020. He was born to Lanh and Suong Ly in Vietnam. Chien is the fourth of seven children. He came to America with his six children and later had his youngest in 1992. When Chien retired in 2009 after working many years at Lacks Industries, he remained active and could be seen riding his bike around the neighborhood. During the cold months, Chien enjoyed traveling to Vietnam to visit friends and family. He is survived by his seven children and sixteen grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and one sister. The family would like to thank St. Mary's Hospital staff for their care and compassion during Chien's illness. There will be a time of visitation from 3:00 until 8:00 pm on Friday, February 14, 2020, at Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Ave SE, Kentwood, MI 49508. The funeral service for Chien will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2020.
