Charmaine David (Ghareeb), 85, of Grand Rapids, went to be with the Lord on the evening of November 16th, 2018. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. Charmaine was born August 4th, 1933 in Grand Rapids, MI. Charmaine is preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Edward David, siblings; Victor Ghareeb, and David & Norma Westbrook. She is survived by her children, Michael (April) David, Mark David, and daughter Stephanie (Michael) Rowlader. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Brianna (Jon) Herrema, Kaylee (Sean) Black and Marissa (Austin Batka) David; Evan, Carina, and Ryan; Maria (Curtis Van Wienen) Rowlader and Michael Rowlader; siblings Daniel (Liz) Ghareeb, Archie (Mary) Ghareeb, and Carlene Ghareeb; and many nieces and nephews. Charmaine worked for many years in the Grand Rapids Public School System, but she was first and foremost a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, entertaining, shopping and loved bingo. Charmaine and her husband Edward also loved ballroom dancing, often they would spend Saturday nights with close friends ballroom dancing. She was also a devoted and longtime member of Saint George Antiochian Orthodox Church. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Beacon Hill Skilled Nursing for taking such good care of their mother. A service will be held at Saint George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 334 LaGrave Ave, SE, Grand Rapids on Monday, November 19th at 11am. Visitation will be held at the Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Ave, SE, in Kentwood on Sunday from 2-4pm and from 6-8pm with a Trisagion service at 7:00pm, visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service at the Church.
