Charles Mac Ward joined family in heaven on December 20th, 2021, after a brief illness. He was born on January 22nd, 1940, in Jackson Michigan. On July 15th, 1961, he married the love of his life, Carol Anne Hotchkiss, and they were blessed to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary this year. After graduating from Western Michigan University, he spent many years working in the insurance industry in Grand Rapids. His love of cars started as a teenager and continued through 3 Corvettes, and 2 Camaros. He even experienced the thrill of driving a NASCAR at Charlotte Motor Speedway. He showed his pride in his children, Robin and Mike, by attending their many sporting events and concerts. Mac was also involved in youth group activities with both of his children. Mac thought that the best thing about having children was the grandchildren they gave him. They were each special to him in their own way. Mac enjoyed traveling and taking road trips all over the country with Carol. The most recent highlight was a three day stay on Mackinac Island this summer for their 60th anniversary. Mac is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carol Anne (Hotchkiss) Ward, his two children, Robin (Darwin) Gentile, and Mike Ward. Grandchildren Alicia Gentile, Nicole Gentile and Charlie Ward. Step grandchildren Will Riebel and Drew Riebel (deceased). A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 27, 2021, at St Paul's United Methodist Church in Grand Rapids. Visitation will be at 10:00 am with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 am. Masks will be required.
