Charles Edward VanSchoick II, age 78, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2026. He was born on December 18, 1947 in Jackson Michigan to Charles I and Lorraine VanSchoick who both preceded him in death. Charles married the love of his life on September 13, 1969. He was a loving and faithful husband to his wife Cheryl Faye VanSchoick who preceded him in death. Charles was a loving father of two children daughter Kelly (Kevin) James and son Charles VanSchoick III.

He has five wonderful grandchildren Cameron, Melaney, Brody (Jen), Lauren, and Brooklyn (Blake) and two very special great grandchildren Lochlan and Wallace. He was one of four children. His sisters Chris (Dan, who preceded him in death) Burger, Chloeanne (Chuck) Fisher, and his brother Brien who preceded him in death (Judy) VanSchoick. He also has many nieces and nephews and cousins.

Charles was baptized on May 1, 1993 to his great God Jehovah whom he was so faithful to and knew of his promise to see his beautiful bride again.

He spent his last day watching the Lions beat the Colts, and even though he couldn’t express it, we know he was pretty happy about that. He loved all teams Detroit, and also of course his favorite college football team (Go Green). He had a love of sports that he passed down to his kids. He taught them how to play baseball, basketball and tennis. Charles was also an avid outdoor sportsman with a love of fishing and hunting and being out in nature.

Charles graduated from East Kentwood high school. He served two years in Vietnam. Years later would learn of a time when there will be no more war and was anxiously awaiting that time. He received his associate’s degree in business from Davenport College, and started his working career at Associated Truck Lines. Then to the rest of his working career, and retiring from the Steelcase Furniture Company.

His calm, warm, gentle spirit will be missed by all until we see him again in paradise, most likely with a Wendy’s frosty in one hand and his loving wife in the other.
