IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charles Edward
Piette
October 29, 1953 – November 12, 2016
Charles "Chuck" Piette Obituary GRAND RAPIDS, MI - Charles "Chuck" Edward Piette, age 63, of Grand Rapids passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2016. Chuck graduated from Grand Rapids Central High School in 1971 and, a year later, married his high school sweetheart, Susan "Sue" Kay Spratling, who survives him. Chuck wanted most to provide for his family and did so via a long career in the printing industry, most recently as Vice President of Ultra-Tech Printing Co. He liked his work in the sense that he brought a lot of knowledge and dedication to his jobs; he enjoyed seeing the fruits of his labor, taking care of his employees, and ensuring the health of a company in an industry that he knew so well. When he was not working, he spent time outdoors. Chuck was the ultimate outdoorsman. He loved fishing most, including the peace and quiet and the right company, but also the challenge of a good catch. He also loved hunting, camping (in Manistee with Sue), and working on vehicles, particularly with his sons. He enjoyed riding his Harley when the mood struck or when the invitation was extended. He additionally loved preparing the spoils of his fishing or hunting for others, especially smoking his catches; cheering on Michigan sports (the Tigers, Lions, Pistons, Red Wings, and anything associated with the University of Michigan); and music, particularly classic rock and country and especially the Marshall Tucker Band. Above all, Chuck loved his family and friends and would do anything for anyone if help or support was needed. His utmost concern was for the comfort, protection, and security of those he loved, though he was not above doling out a good dose of reality if the situation required. Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Jacquelynn Piette; his brothers Robert and Terence; and his sisters Geryl Piette and ChariLynn Lovely. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sue; his daughter, Kylie; his son, Austin, and wife, Kallie; his daughter, Hilary, and husband, Kyle; his son, Collin; his granddaughter, Alexandria; and his sisters Sandra Dickensheets and Merri Jo Crockett (and husband Earl), as well as several nieces and nephews, on both his and Sue's sides, and dear friends. Visitation will be held at 5:00 PM followed by a memorial service at 6:00 PM on Thursday, November 17, 2016, at Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Avenue SE, Grand Rapids, Michigan, 49508 with Sean Kidd officiating. The family will receive friends at the 5th Street Hall, 701 Fifth Street, Grand Rapids, MI, 49504 beginning at 7:30 PM. Condolences can be sent to the family via Chuck's Facebook, which is now public, or to 1227 Brookridge Dr. SE, Kentwood, Michigan, 49508. If desired, memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, 3940 Peninsular Dr. SE, #180, Grand Rapids, Michigan, 49546. The family wishes to thank Manistee County emergency services and Chuck and Sue's Coho Bend RV Park neighbors for their kindness and support.
