Charles "Chuck" William Champion passed away at the age of 53 Friday February 12, 2021 due to complications with pneumonia in Battle Creek Michigan. Chuck was born March 18, 1967 and grew up in Hastings Michigan where He attended Hastings High school.
In the early 90's Chuck attended Battle Creek tech and became a certified auto body technician. For many years Chuck worked for Action Signs in Hastings where he met one of his mentors in life Hank. Chuck grew up fishing and hunting. He had a passion for cars from a young age and spent countless hours with his uncle Ortie Hobert fixing up his first car an AMC Javelin.
He is proceeded in death by his mother Lyndia Crawford(McNutt), grandfather George McNutt, and sister Shawn Champion. He leaves behind his daughter Tana Champion, son Matthew Champion(Ashley Champion), brother Michael Champion(Michele Champion), Grandmother Norma McNutt, father Robert Champion(Pattie Champion), and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Chuck was well known for his automotive work. He was a talented body man that could flip any car into a work of art. Some of his work can be seen at the Gilmore car museum in Hickory Corners Michigan. His passions in life were fishing and hunting. An avid fisherman he once saved the life of a man who had fallen through the ice on Bristol lake in Barry county. Chuck will be remembered most by his sense of compassion for others and how he could always make you smile with one of his many jokes and wild stories. He was the type of man that would give you the shirt off his back even if he needed it more. He had the utmost respect for his friends and family and loved them all dearly. If he wasn't in the garage working on something with a motor or watching old westerns he could be found cruising the backroads listening to good ole rock and roll and country classics. He lived his life simply but left a mark on everyone he met. Though he is gone now Chuck will forever live on in the stories people tell. That's just the type of guy he was. He left a lasting impression.
Due to the pandemic there won't be services at this time. There will be a small gathering of family and close friends this summer to celebrate Chucks life and memory. The family would like to thank the many friends and family for reaching out and sharing memories and support during this difficult time.
