Obituary

Charles R. Biggs passed away peacefully at home (under Faith hospice care) with loved ones at his side on June 9, 2026. He kept his promise and made it to his 70th wedding anniversary. 

He was born to Robert L. and Josephine (Housand) Biggs on January 8, 1932. He was a Yankee Springs business owner known as Chuck’s Bait and Sport Shop for many years. He was also involved with the Yankee Springs Township for over 50 years, and well known in the community. He was a Korean war veteran. He love to fish, hunt and golf and he loved his family. He got to celebrate the last month of his life telling stories to family and friends. 

Charles is survived by his wife, Nancy J. (Proudfit) Biggs, daughter, Jeannie ten Haaf (James Courtney), son, Charles S. Biggs (Darlene Anders), son, Jon Biggs (Christie Britton), daughter Merry Biggs, Jack Secord, 12 grandchildren and spouses, 18 great grandchildren, brother Karl and Sally Biggs, sister, Francis Oliver, brother-in-law, James and Marilyn Proudfit, and many nieces and nephews.

Please join us in honoring him with a memorial luncheon on July 10, 2026 at VFW Hall Wayland – 735 S Main St., Wayland, MI from 11 AM to 2 PM.
