Charlene departed her loving family on November 24th, 2023, after a long hard fight with uterine cancer.

Charlene was born in Arkansas in 1952 to Charlie and Earlene Reed (both deceased). She was the oldest of 12 children. She loved her brothers and sisters, often having many family gatherings at her home. Her siblings are Verlene King, William King (deceased), George Hayes Jr., Alice Sharkey, Rickey Hayes, Mary Hayes, Linda Hayes (deceased), Carl Hayes, Ernest Hayes (deceased), Michael Hayes, and Joyce Hayes.

Charlene was married to Horace Johnson for almost 25 years. Horace was always by Charlene's side; they were barley ever apart. They loved family, music, beer, coolers, and each other.

Charlene was mother to Regina (Lloyd Harding), Darryl Washington and Steven Washington (deceased). She raised her children with love and devotion. Grand Mother to Dominic Dawson, Darese Dawson, and Esaiah Washington. She was expecting her first Great Granddaughter Da'Vani Dawson in December 2023. Charlene had a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins that she treasured and loved. She will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
