Cathleen "Cathy" Verbos of Grand Rapids, MI (formerly Cathleen Stoffers) age 65 passed away June 16, 2023.

Mom loved to help. She sacrificed a lot through the years and did it with a fighting spirit. Her belief in God never wavered in her commitment to her children was profound.

She was known for being an educator and taught special education for 16 years before retiring. She also provided a caring, supportive daycare for many years prior to going back to school for her Masters in Education.

She raised us to be strong, independent thinkers. She supported us in countless activities, clubs, and sports. Mom enjoyed nature and spent many summers on the shores of Lake Michigan. She soaked up the sun, the dunes, and the water. She also loved birds and often had to chase squirrels and raccoons away. We will forever remember the blue jays waking us up every morning knocking on the patio for peanuts.

Cathy is survived by her loving children, grandchildren, and sister: Her sister Amy Kennedy-Stoffers. Her son Jeremiah DeWitt, his wife Nicole, and their children Adelyn and Raylee. Her daughter, Tracy LaBrecque her husband Neal, and their children Blake and Piper.
