Catherine Diana Askey, 71, passed away on February 21, 2025, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Born on December 28, 1953, in Grand Rapids, she was deeply connected to her family and faith community. Being a member of and raising her children within the fellowship of North Park Baptist Church, Catherine loved the Lord and may now rest in peace with Him. Catherine was a devoted mother and grandmother who embraced life with a fun-loving and adventurous spirit. She found immense joy in attending as many of her grandchildren's extracurricular activities as possible, always cheering them on with enthusiasm. Her passion for preserving memories led her to collect countless pictures, ensuring that every cherished moment was documented and treasured. An avid traveler, Catherine loved exploring new places and discovering connections through Ancestry research. She also had a deep appreciation for gardening, finding peace and fulfillment in nurturing plants and watching them flourish. Among the many joys in her life, one of the most recent was Marley, the newest addition to the family. She adored him wholeheartedly and delighted in sneaking him to McDonald's for a shared breakfast sandwich—one of their special traditions. Catherine is survived by her children: Daniel Dunn Jr., Kelly (Aaron) Christopher, Emily (Cory) Blankenship, Wendy (David) Dunn-Lee, Lisa Schaaf, Peter Dunn, Todd Dunn, Sally Dunn, 14 grandchildren, 1(soon to be 2) great granddaughter(s), 6 nieces and 3 nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thelma and Donald Askey; her daughter-in-law Brenda; her son Robert Schaaf; and her daughter Debbie Dunn. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May her adventurous spirit continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to share in her journey.
