IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carolyn
Anderson
July 18, 1941 – November 25, 2023
Carolyn Gregory Anderson, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, passed away
peacefully on November 25, 2023, in Wayland, Michigan. Born on July 18, 1941, in Spartanburg, South
Carolina, to the late Horace and Marie Gregory, Carolyn spent her 82 years enriching the lives of those
around her with her kind and thoughtful nature. Carolyn was a believer in the saving grace of Jesus
Christ and enjoyed her visits with the Chaplains, singing and reciting scripture.
Carolyn was the widow of Robert L Anderson, who she missed dearly. She was a loving mother to her
son, Jeff (Jill) Cochran, and her daughter, Jenny (Jim) Fent. Her love for her family extended beyond her
children to her devoted sister, Lurah (Nick) Pappas, her grandchildren, Rebecca Dill, Michael (Barbara)
Johnson, Leah (Jared) Duncan, Joel (Erin) Cochran, Joseph (Audrey) Cochran, Jacob (Sarah) Cochran,
Jarad Cochran, Micaelah (Adam) Fulan, Lexi (Chad) Nestle, Grace Fent, and many great grandchildren
who will remember her fondly.
Before her passing, Carolyn was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Glenn Gregory, Lewis
Gregory, Billy Gregory, Blanche Gregory, Charles Gregory, Betty Dixon, JoAnn Burrell, Harold Gregory,
and Sandra Burrell. The bond she maintained with her siblings was a testament to the importance of
family in her life.
Carolyns interests were as diverse as they were entertaining. She enjoyed traveling, ballroom dancing,
visiting antique shops, reading good books, and working in her beautiful yard. Yet, despite her love for
these and other activities, Carolyn was happiest when she was surrounded by her family and friends.
Her home was always open and filled with warmth and laughter. Carolyn was more than just a mother,
grandmother, and friend; she was a person of thoughtfulness and generosity in a world that often
needed it. Her life was a testament to the power of love and compassion. She was a woman of personal
exploration, always seeking to learn more and share her knowledge with those around her. Her
interesting tales of travel and adventure will be missed. Carolyn Gregory Andersons passing leaves a
void that cannot be filled. However, her spirit lives on in the hearts of those she loved and those who
loved her. She will be remembered not just for the life she lived but for the lives she touched.
A celebration of her life will be held later in the spring in her hometown in South Carolina. Carolyn's
family would also like to personally thank the incredible staff at Green Acres Retirement Community for
making her comfortable and treating her with the utmost dignity and respect. In lieu of flowers,
donations may be made in her memory to Green Acres, 298 Kay Lane, Wayland, MI 49348 and to
Careline Health Group (Hospice), 801 Rosehill Road, Jackson, MI 49202.
