Mrs. Carole J. Hojnacki of Kentwood, Michigan, age 84, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, January 1, 2020, surrounded by family with her hand holding theirs. Carole was born on February 22, 1935, to Francis and Madelon (Cook) Neiberger in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and had been a lifelong resident of the area. Carole was a charter member of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, and is proud of her status on the wedding registry as "Bride #31" on a list, now over one thousand names long. She was a loving and devoted wife, wonderful mother, proud grandmother and great-grandmother, dear sister, and friend. She will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by her family, friends, and all those who knew her. Carole is survived by her loving husband James; children Darla (Mark) Crawford of Coloma, MI, Robert Hojnacki of Fairbanks, AK, Darcy (Thomas) Ford of Niles, MI, and "adopted" daughter Lynn (Jack) Whittey of Granger, IN; grandchildren Shawn (Jessica) Crawford and Stefannie (Patrick) Whitlatch; great-grandchildren Michael and Emmett Crawford and Lilly and Austin Whitlatch; sister Sarah (Mickey) Hinton; brother-in-law Gerald Hojnacki; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other beloved members of the family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Peter Vu at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2020, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 1253 52nd Street SE, Kentwood, MI 49508. There will be a one-hour visitation prior to Mass. Those wishing to offer an expression of sympathy are encouraged to make a memorial contribution to St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church.
