Carol Jean York, age 93 passed away November 7, 2015 after a short illness. She was preceded in death by her parents Melvin & Cora York and brother John David York. She is survived by her sister, Elaine Youngs, two nephews and one niece. Carol graduated from Union High School in 1940. She worked for the renowned photographer Maurice LeClaire for a short time. This stimulated her interest in photography. Carol worked for Spectrum Butterworth Hospital for 12 years in housekeeping. She was recognized by her eagle head walking stick as she frequented Woodland Mall and especially Barnes & Nobles. As they say, she responded to a different drummer but was loved by her extended family and friends. A memorial service will be held Thursday, November 12 at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church, 227 Fulton St., Grand Rapids, MI with visitation one half hour prior to the service and lunch to follow.
