Obituary

Carol Sue Asfour passed away peacefully on December 18, 2023, in Grand Rapids, MI. Born on March 15, 1939, in Cincinnati, OH, Carol's zest for life never dimmed from that day forward. She lived a life that overflowed with kindness, creativity, and a great sense of humor.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter in her husband, Albert Asfour, her son Jeff, and her daughter Janan. She was also blessed with five grandchildren, and one and a half great-grandchildren (the half being due to make a full debut in April).

After high school, Carol was a dedicated student at the University of Cincinnati, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She served as a registered nurse in various capacities, including positions in doctors' offices, home health care, and public nursing. Carol's nurturing heart extended beyond her professional life as she embraced numerous volunteer roles as well.

She especially loved working with the youth, and started and led a youth group called "His Kids" in Brighton, MI, where she and her husband lived from 1977-2019. She also served as the substitute nurse in the Brighton school system and the "band nurse" for the Brighton High School marching band camps for several years.

Carol's artistic talents included painting, drawing, and singing whenever she found the opportunity. She had a knack for making up a jingle for every occasion – a talent that the grandchildren especially enjoyed. Carol enjoyed traveling to many incredible places with family and friends – always embracing every opportunity and tirelessly documenting every experience.

Those who had the privilege of knowing Carol will remember her as a loving, creative, and fun-filled individual who enriched the lives of those around her. She was a pillar of her community in Brighton, MI, a friend to many, and an unwavering light in the lives of her family.

Carol Sue Asfour's legacy is one of love, service, and the joyous celebration of life. Her memory will continue to be a source of strength and comfort to all who were blessed to know her. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we take solace in the knowledge that her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
