Calvin took his last fight to heaven on January 3, 2025, at the age of 99. After battling heart disease and dementia for many years, he passed away peacefully with his family at his side. Calvin was born on November 1, 1925, in Battle Creek, MI to Charles and Estella (Nickols) Howard. He had two sisters and two brothers, all of whom preceded him in death.

Calvin married his wife of 64 years, Jacqueline (Jackie) Howard (Neff), in 1948. She sadly preceded him in death on May 26, 2012. He is survived by his children: Janet and (Dale) Enyart of Fulton, MI; William Howard (Laura Green) of Battle Creek, MI; Patricia Brown of Charlotte, MI and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Calvin lived a full, hard-working life. By day he worked as a farmer and excavator, digging basements and ponds with his crane and leveling out yards with his bulldozer. He also, for 28 ½ years, worked 3rd shift at Grand Trunk Railroad.

As quite the outdoorsman, Calvin spent many years fishing with family and friends. He had a passion for rebuilding airplanes, attending Stearman and antique air shows with his many friends that flew. (Yes, he did learn to fly with these same friends. Shhhh, it's a secret, he had no license.) Calvin enjoyed spending many winters down in Texas with his wife, Jackie, where he became quite the pool shark and golf enthusiast. We will always remember his sweet smile.
