Obituary

Brian DeLaGandara, age 60, passed away on October 30, 2024, after a short battle with Stage IV Lung Cancer.

Brian grew up in Comstock Park, where he attended Comstock Park High School, leaving his mark as a friend to all and a stranger to none. His work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident early on and carried into his professional life, where he devoted 36 years to Knoll Inc. He retired at 57 and enjoyed the last few years working at North Kent Golf Course in Rockford, Michigan.

Though he dedicated most of his time to work, Brian's true passions lied outside of his career. His love for adventure took him to the open waters of Costa Rica, where he indulged in fishing, fell in love with the people, culture and everything the country had to offer. In the fall you could find him in the woods, hunting and during the summer months you could find him on the golf course. Above all, Brian lived for the thrill of the game, whether cheering on his Michigan State Spartans or patiently supporting the Detroit Lions with eternal optimism.

Brian was preceded in death by his grandparents, Francisco & Maria DeLaGandara, Larry & Hazel Parks; his father, Jesus DeLaGandara; and his brother, Jeff DeLaGandara. He will be remembered by his mother, Dianne DeLaGandara; children, Alix Smith (Zac), Jacob DeLaGandara (Crystal), Brianna DeLaGandara (Zeke Davies); grandchildren, Braxton, Jackson, Everleigh, Brady, Oakley, Brexley, Callie; his dog, Lucky; and so many amazing friends and co-workers.

As we reflect on Brian's life, we remember the motto in Costa Rica, "Pura Vida" which means pure life, the simple life, it was the laid-back, happy-go-lucky attitude of the locals and their viewpoint of living life to the fullest and something Brian fully embraced.

Visitation with friends and family will take place from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at ResLife Church, 5100 Ivanrest Ave SW, Grandville, MI 49418 (Enter through doors E or H). A celebration of Brian's life will follow the visitation at 11 a.m.

A luncheon will take place following the service at North Kent Golf Course at 1:00 p.m. 11029 Stout Ave NE, Rockford, MI 49341.
