Obituary

Brent Allen VerDuin (Proctor), a man who could turn even the gloomiest of days into a sunny comedy sketch, took his final, unexpected curtain call on August 23, 2025. Born on a chilly December day in 1973, Brent arrived in this world ready to make his mark with a smile on his face and a joke on his lips. He walked through life with the kind of optimism that was both infectious and unyielding, leaving us far too soon at the age of 51.

Brent was the kind of guy who could effortlessly impersonate just about anyone, ensuring that laughter was a constant soundtrack to his life. A talented comedian, he often joked that his birth was the only time he couldn't make someone laugh—a feat he certainly made up for in the years that followed. His creativity wasn't just confined to his humor; Brent was also an awesome artist, his sketches and paintings almost as vibrant and lively as his personality.

As a dedicated tool and die mechanic, Brent approached his work with the same precision and passion that he did his hobbies. His colleagues knew him as the guy who could always be relied upon for a quick fix, a clever solution, or a perfectly-timed wisecrack to lighten the mood during those long shifts.

Brent's faith was as integral to him as his humor. He lived his Christianity not just in word but in deed, treating others with kindness, generosity, and the kind of respect that never goes out of style.

When he wasn't crafting metal or punchlines, Brent could be found cheering on the Detroit Tigers or getting revved up over a NASCAR race. His love for his dogs was legendary; he argued they were the only creatures that could outdo his loyalty and perhaps his appetite.

Family was the core of Brent's world, and though he has taken his final bow, he leaves behind a troupe of loved ones. Preceded in death by his parents, Lynda VerDuin, Tim Proctor, and Ric Kukla, Brent's memory will be cherished and kept alive by his sisters, Amber (Dan), Amandalyn (Brandon), Tabitha, and Becki; his brothers, Heath and Dalton (Allie); and a stage-full of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. A special nod goes to his aunt and uncle, Jill and David Mancewicz, who held VIP backstage passes in his life.

To those who knew him, Brent was the embodiment of funny, creative, and optimistic. He was the person you could count on to lighten your burdens with humor and remind you that no matter the challenge, there's a laugh to be found.

So, as we bid farewell to Brent Allen VerDuin, let's not say goodbye but rather 'intermission'. After all, for a man who lived life with the joy and abandon of a standing ovation, the show must go on—in our hearts, our memories, and every time we find a reason to laugh amidst the tears. Curtain down, Brent, and take a bow. You've earned it.
