Bobbie Joan Galbraith of Swartz Creek, Michigan, age 76, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2020.

Bobbie was born to Hartford and Sue (Hodges) Dunn on August 5, 1944, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Her father was killed serving his country shortly after her birth, and she was raised by her mother in the midst of a large and loving family of many aunts and uncles, cousins, and grandparents. She moved with her mother to Michigan in 1958, where she worked on adjusting to the winters. She graduated from Flushing High School in 1962, and went on to attend Michigan State University, earning a B.A. in Education.

Bobbie taught second and third grade in the Swartz Creek Schools for over 30 years, spending most of that time at Gains Elementary. She loved teaching, and her daughter still runs into students who remember her fondly.

Bobbie loved books and reading, and had an abiding interest in history. She had a great sense of adventure, and enjoyed traveling, camping, rafting, horseback riding and skiing. She was a skilled spinner and weaver, and gifted in a variety of crafts. Throughout her life animals were her treasured companions, loved well if not always wisely. Bobbie was very social, and treasured the company of friends. She had an unconventional, vibrant personality, and a great sense of humor. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and always a warm and colorful presence in our lives.

Bobbie is survived by her daughter, Pamela, and her granddaughter, Barbara. She was preceded in death by her father, Hartford, and her mother, Sue.

A memorial service will be held in Swartz Creek in the summer of 2021. Service Details. Interment Tuesday, October 20th, 2020 | 11:00am
