Murphy
August 23, 1932 – September 29, 2021
Beverly Gertrude Murphy, 89, from Grand Rapids, Michigan, peacefully passed away on September 29, 2021 while waiting for her afternoon coffee at StoryPoint Retirement Community in Rockford, Michigan.
Beverly was born in Jackson, Michigan, the only child to Phillip and Gertrude Billeter, on August 23,1932. Beverly went on to earn a teaching degree in Primary Education from Eastern Michigan University. She worked as a teacher and then started a family in 1955 with Dr. Richard Murphy; the family resided in Saginaw, Michigan.
Beverly was a gracious and thoughtful woman. She loved God, her children and grandchildren. Bev also liked to make friends everywhere she went. She had a pleasant way of making people feel appreciated. She loved to laugh, dance and sing, especially to her favorite music. Bev also enjoyed playing the piano, had an interest in learning the newest thing and, back in the day, her kids thought she was a wonderful homemade cook. In her later years she became an avid (pro) baseball fan.
Beverly is survived by her 4 children and 4 grandchildren: Son Steve Murphy, Austin, Texas, the father to her grandsons Kyle and Wade Murphy; her 3 daughters Susan Murphy, Yuma, Arizona; Karen (Kay) Murphy (Don), Kentwood, Michigan, the mother to her grandsons Tyler and Eric Fish; and Jane Murphy (Jason), St. Petersburg, Florida; her significant other Robert (Bob) Park, Grand Rapids , Michigan. She is preceded in death by her parents Phillip and Gertrude Billeter.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to her caregivers.
A private memorial will be held at her final resting place at Hillcrest Cemetery 1425 N Elm Ave, Jackson, MI 49202 on a date to be determined.
Memorial donations may be made to Wounded Warriors Project.
